When Rain Brings Joy
The informal group in Pale, within the "Older Brother, Older Sister" Program, continues its outstanding work and gatherings. On February 2nd, they organized a group outing for all their mentors and mentees, with a joint visit to Ravna Planina, offering a breathtaking view of Pale. The event was attended by eight mentor-mentee pairs, who, in addition to enjoying nature, participated in numerous engaging activities.
The Sunday started off gloomy, with rain and chilly weather. Despite this, the day began with a mountain tour, a gondola ride, and sightseeing through binoculars. The view of Pale and the untouched nature further enriched their experience. Afterward, the real fun began — a visit to the Dino Park at Ravna Planina. The children and volunteers had the chance to see dinosaur models, learn about them, and for a moment, step into the world of the Jurassic, Cretaceous, and Paleogene periods.
A particularly memorable moment of this gathering was the celebration of two mentees’ birthdays. The birthday celebrants’ smiles lit up the space, and everyone enjoyed a delicious cake together. One of the mentors, Radenko Pavlović, shared his impressions: “His joy and gratitude were priceless.”
As the story we are building is synonymous with togetherness and friendship, this trip also marked the beginning of what we hope will be a long-lasting friendship. Mentor Marina Karvdija shared the experience of her mentee, a girl who is usually shy and reserved. However, in the world of dinosaurs, fresh air, and an uplifting atmosphere, she found a new friend. Marina emphasized: “What makes me especially happy is that she found a friend with whom she immediately connected. The two of them spent the whole time together, inseparable and completely at ease.”
This outing is proof that we don’t have to wait for the rain to stop for the sun to shine — even on rainy days, we can find ways to create joy, with the right people by our side. The rainy Sunday turned into a colorful, cheerful, and unforgettable day. Marina confirmed this by saying: “Although the weather wasn’t on our side, we spent beautiful moments together and made the most of every single one.” Laughter, new friendships, and precious memories remain as lasting witnesses to the beauty of this gloomy, yet, in the hearts of all present, bright day.
