About Foundation's founding

The Foundation for the Support and Development of Mentoring Programs Older Brother, Older Sister was established in 2013, with its headquarters in Sarajevo. The initiative to establish the Foundation came from the Center for Addiction Prevention (Stručni centar za prevenciju ovisnosti), and all member organizations of the Network supported its founding.

The organizations that are members of the Older Brother, Older Sister Network are the following: Association Zdravo da ste, Association New Generation (Udruženje Nova generacija) from Banja Luka, Association Zemlja djece in BiH from Tuzla, IPAK–MGB from Tuzla, Youth Association REaktiv, Medica Zenica (a specialized women’s NGO) from Zenica, Youth Education Center Travnik (Centar za edukaciju mladih Travnik), Center for Psychological Support Sensus (Centar za psihološku podršku Sensus) and SOS Family Center Mostar (SOS Porodični centar Mostar), as well as the Sarajevo HKO Bread of St. Anthony (HKO Kruh sv. Ante), in cooperation with SOS Children’s Villages Bosnia and Herzegovina (SOS Dječija sela BiH) and the Center for Addiction Prevention (Stručni centar za prevenciju ovisnosti).

The Foundation officially began its work in 2019, when the first public call for co‑financing organizations for the implementation of the Older Brother, Older Sister Program was announced. In addition, the Foundation took over the entire legacy that the Older Brother, Older Sister Network had built during its operations, especially in terms of mentoring processes and expertise, with a particular emphasis on the Older Brother, Older Sister Program. The Foundation also uses parts of the financial and administrative grant norms developed by the Network.

Although the Older Brother, Older Sister Program is the cornerstone of its work, and the Foundation continuously invests efforts in its improvement, it plans to develop other mentoring programs in the future.

The Foundation actively engages in promoting philanthropy and spreading the mission of goodwill with the aim of mobilizing domestic forces from the private and public sectors to support its work and thereby contribute to fulfilling its mission.
