Marathoners in action

As we remember the year 2019 when our volunteers of the Older brother, older sister Foundation organized the campaign “Let us run for a child’s smile” with the non-governmental team Marathon Sarajevo, we have decided to “accelerate” this year’s campaign and alongside the aforementioned team partake into the two upcoming races – Spring run & Family run which is held in May and into Sarajevski cener, reserved for Jun. Besides having a plan, associates, and set goals, we also need additional help to rightly and appeasably carry out our objectives of the campaign and to continue with the Older brother, older sister program’s implementation, and that help is youth hungry for engagement and new adventures who will surely be satiated with the campaign – that are our volunteers. Behind the symbolical name “Marathoners” lies seven ardent volunteers: Emin, Dzejla, Nejla, Iris, and Iman prompted by more experienced and older volunteers Amila and Elmira. They felt the need to get more acquainted with each other but also with the work of the Foundation, so they did so by participating in the whole-day education. Through 4 modules, they were minutely acquainted with the Foundation’s work, their roles in the team, and as well as with the plans for future activities. It is important to note that the volunteers are at the same time older brothers/sistersof the program of the Association for the addiction prevention NARKO-NE, thus the extra engagement in the Foundation represents a challenge as well as a new way to learn something and to master already known skills.

Proud of her motivation and eagerness to work, the volunteer Nejla Nukic was willing to share her impressions: “The education was great, I have learned so much. The most valuable thing was that I realized how important teamwork is and how a team implies internal cooperation, harmony, and understanding. I have met some wonderful people and I am definitely looking forward to working on my own and with teammates in the Foundation because I find what we do through the campaign extremely important and useful for all of us.”

One of the “teachers” but also a volunteer of the Foundation, Elmira Ramadani, emphasized as well the importance of having a quality team that functions smoothly, and that is definitely this team. She mentions how she had had an opportunity to lead a couple of workshops but never an education. However, the positive feedback she received at the end from her pupils and coordinators incites her to continue working in that field. In the end, she believes that the team will reap good results and show yet again that young people actually have potential.

After the successful education, the time had come for the team to meet and hold an introductory meeting with executive Ivana and professional associate Nerma. In a pleasant mood, we had been talking about the education, and how much it had helped them to understand how the Foundation functions but also its importance, and how they could contribute to the upcoming campaign. Spirited and highly motivated Marathoners, full of humor as well as interesting ideas, had laid plans for the new campaign “Let us run for a child’s smile” and they just can’t wait to invest their free time in this truly commendable and unforgettable story.

Besides these two races, two exquisitely interesting events await us for this campaign too, by which we will socialize and take joy in the activities with all of you as we create a happy childhood for our younger brothers and sisters. To get more detailed information, we welcome you to keep track of our updates via our website or social networks of the Foundation – Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
